This universe is at the midpoint of Scandinavia and Japan. References to the worship of the present are mixed with the idea of continuity and simple, unbroken forms. It is unpretentious and seemingly modest, but with a focus on craftsmanship and uniqueness. The blue tones reflect the idea of calmness and luxurious serenity.
The styling of the blue universe is focused on finding the intersection of Scandinavian and Japanese references. Blue is a Scandi color as it symbolises the sea that surrounds Scandinavia and the melancholy with which Scandinavia is often associated. Blue is also a classic Japanese color as it comes from indigo, which dates back centuries in Japanese craft. Light woods are used, which are both typically Scandinavian and Japanese, and paper and “old clothes” are drawn from Japanese traditions and materials. In the styling, the idea is to provide calm, coherence, and harmony, and emphasises quality and meaningful expression.
