With the help of Marie Monrad Graunbøl, we bring you four different colour universes, each with its own story to tell.

Marie Monrad Graunbøl is the founder of the visual communications studio, Revolver. We chose to collaborate with Marie for this project because of her unique ability to seamlessly blend art direction, visual storytelling, and trend forecasting.

Tasked with styling four different colour universes, she took inspiration from the old and the new, the hard and the soft, and the bold and the subdued. The four universes bring to mind the world we live in, the feelings we all can relate to, and carry a narrative spoken through colour, material, texture, and emotion.

When styling, Marie pays attention to the little details, as she finds that the used and slightly scratched holds more history than the shiny and flawless. It’s all about balance – the new with the used, as well as the dark wood with the greens. Marie attempts to strike a balance between practical considerations and aesthetic choices.

About Marie.

Marie Monrad Graunbøl is a journalist, creative director and award-winning stylist. She runs the visual communications studio, Revolver, where she works with clients such as Fritz Hansen, Kvadrat, Blomus and Georg Jensen. Marie frequently contributes ELLE (DK and UK), RUM (DK), Børsen Pleasure (DK) and MilK Japon (JP), and is known for her special sense of aesthetics, quality, and tactility.

Four strong characters.

Marie has created a series of four warm and organic spaces, with an understated aesthetic. The styling is the high-quality accent to the colours, emphasizing a visual balance and comfort.

Throughout the four stories, Marie has chosen furniture and objects with a strong personality and tactility. All are of different ages and backgrounds and are held together by the four different colour schemes. The four themes are all characterised by their minimalistic, clean lines in combination with the deep and calming feelings of the colours used. The styling in all four colour schemes expresses the Nordic interior uniting traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.

‘Hope is Green’ & ‘Kyoto Contemporary’.

‘Hope is Green’ is a green universe influenced by nature and the calming feeling of hope. ‘Kyoto Contemporary’ is a blue universe at the midpoint of Scandinavia and Japan. ‘Artistic Meditations’ is a beige universe all about facing the world head-on, entrenched in everything creative, forward-thinking, and in the now. Finally, ‘Sunshine All Day’ is a yellow universe focused on highlighting the sun and the warm tones of nature.
